HI-FOG®, Marioff's flagship water mist fire protection system, is now fully compliant with IMO regulation MSC.1/Circ. 1272 to protect Roll-on, Roll-off (Ro-Ro) and special category spaces. Marioff is part of UTC Fire & Security, a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Operators of marine vessels with Ro-Ro decks now have an excellent alternative to conventional water drencher systems, gas-based and foam-based fire protection systems. "As soon as a fire is detected, HI-FOG® is activated, suppressing the fire before it can spread and cause damage," says Stefan Gordin, Vice-President of Marioff's Marine & Offshore Division. "Moreover, HI-FOG®, already widely used to protect accommodation areas and machinery spaces, offers an integrated fire protection system which reduces installation and operating costs," confirms Gordin.

HI-FOG® uses fresh water which is not corrosive to vehicles or ship equipment and harmless to people. The environmentally-friendly system uses much less water than conventional drencher systems and decreases the stability problems associated with free-flowing water on deck. HI-FOG® offers the same or better fire suppression efficiency than conventional systems without the drawbacks.

With over 6,000 full-scale fire tests behind it, HI-FOG® has been fire-tested across more applications than any other water mist fire protection system and has received more industry approvals than any other water mist fire protection system. About 1,000 passenger cruise ships, ferries and other marine vessels are protected by HI-FOG®. Over 1,500 sites on land including heritage buildings and museums, hotels, hospitals, metro stations and trains and data centres are currently protected by HI-FOG®.
