Jay Weber, Senior Product Manager for Blackline Safety, recently visited HazMat2 to collaborate with their team of hazmat responders and gain insights into their experiences using its equipment in the field.

Jay donned several hazmat ensembles and gloves to understand the difficulties of responders downrange in PPE.

complexities and difficulties

My recent visit to HazMat2 with Ben and his team gave me an entirely new understanding of the complexities and difficulties associated with their work,” said Weber.

The hazards they encounter on a regular basis pose a significant risk to both human life and the environment, which they handle with utmost professionalism while facing significant mobility, sensory, and dexterity limitations.

How Blackline devices integrate with Vlahi’s CERES software to produce a real-time sensor-driven plume model

During the visit, the team observed how gas detection meters are used in emergency response conditions compared to standard industry and industrial hygiene uses.

The group also looked at how Blackline devices integrate with Vlahi’s CERES (Chemical Emergency Response E-Service) software to produce a real-time sensor-driven plume model at an ammonia leak.

G7 and G7 EXO

The added pressure of working under strict time constraints, with only a limited air supply of approximately 30 minutes, highlights the importance of providing hazmat teams with the most effective and efficient tools available,” said Weber.

I am enthusiastic about using the knowledge I have gained from this experience to enhance the capabilities of the G7 and G7 EXO, making them even more user-friendly and effective for hazmat  teams.

real-time monitoring

With Blackline’s real-time monitoring, hazmat teams can optimize incident responses and get ahead of the risks responders face, whether from flammable, toxic gases, VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), or radiation.

"We are proud to continue to be a part of the innovation of the hazmat world and are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with our customers and develop the best possible solutions for their needs. Together with HazMat2 and other customers committed to workplace safety, we will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in emergency response and work to protect those who protect us."
