Quality describes "the quality of all properties of an object". And all the individual parts together make the whole. If any of these individual parts are not up to standard or, worse, are of poor quality, it will affect the overall whole. If, for example, the leather that is used in a boot is not ok, the boot can tear or have leaks.

Only when a boot is of high quality can it perform its tasks and ensure the safety and comfort of the wearer in extreme situations. This is why HAIX relies on high-quality materials for its "Made in Europe" boots and subjects all parts of the whole to strict quality controls.

Tough bull leather for tough HAIX leather boots

The leather that HAIX uses for its functional boots is European bull leather that comes from certified suppliers - 100% Made in Europe.

Constant quality assurance checks ensure a consistently high level of quality in production

But why bull leather? It has a different structure than conventional cow leather, which is used by most shoe manufacturers. This is because the female cattle produce the offspring, which causes the skin or the leather to stretch and contract again and again.

When this type of leather is processed into boots, this has the disadvantage that the boots fit well when one buys them. But after intensive use, the cow leather can stretch - unimaginable with firefighting boots, which are sometimes worn for as much as ten years and are always supposed to offer maximum protection.

quality controlled boots

The quality of the leather is strictly controlled at HAIX. Constant quality assurance checks ensure a consistently high level of quality in production.

Because the high-quality bull leather that HAIX uses must even meet our own strict requirements. It is not only the appearance that is important, but the “inner values” must also be right. The leather is carefully examined in the HAIX high-tech test laboratory.

Rigorous testing and high-tech procedures

HAIX has one of the most modern tests and inspection laboratories in the world. Because minimum standards do not meet the requirements of HAIX as a high-tech manufacturer, every HAIX boot model should exceed the standards as much as possible - for more safety, more comfort, and higher quality. HAIX leather boots are tested for tear resistance, breathability, flexing behavior as well as fire and water resistance

Under the strict eyes of the test engineers, the leather is tested by being pulled and strained, and it is also exposed to fire and moisture. Amongst other things, HAIX high-quality leather boots are tested for tear resistance, breathability, flexing behavior as well as fire resistance and water resistance.

Not only the test methods, but the leather itself is also high-tech. The bull leather that is used for HAIX shoes is refined using state-of-the-art processes. To make it water-repellent, the leather is hydrophobized. This makes the leather resistant to the absorption of water. In addition, special color pigments are worked directly into the leather, which ensures that the shoes absorb up to 40 percent less solar radiation than conventional boots, making them heat up less, and keeping the feet cooler.
