Grassroots forums report for effective retention and recruitment practices |
Fire Corps releases Grassroots forum report.
In 2009 and early 2010, Fire Corps hosted a series of grassroots forums to identify best practices, challenges, effective retention and recruitment practices, and recommendations and feedback for Fire Corps from the local level. Forums were held in Michigan, Oregon, Texas, and Virginia. A report of the findings from these valuable and insightful sessions has now been released.
Fire Corps received tremendous feedback from local programs and other participants about successes and challenges encountered by local programs. The forums provided an opportunity for key stakeholders, from local volunteers and program coordinators to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s regional coordinators, to network, share ideas, and discuss how Fire Corps initiatives can be supported at the local, state, and national level.
The Grassroots Forums Report is a compendium of ideas and information gathered through the four events, including challenges, innovative practices, and recommendations to strengthen the Fire Corps program. The data gathered from these events will be used to help identify future Fire Corps activities and resources. The report is now available to local Fire Corps programs to allow them to learn and benefit from the experience of others.
