When working for extended amounts of time in a cold store, it’s important to make sure that the workwear of the staff reflects the environment they work in, in order to help keep them safe and comfortable in carrying out their jobs.

This article covers the ideal Cold Store workwear to ensure enhanced safety and comfort for the wearer in doing the work tasks.

Headwear

Starting off with headwear, it all comes down to the environment, for instance, if working in a place where there might be falling debris, then a hard hat or helmet is required to be worn. Otherwise, a beanie hat should be considered, in order to keep the head warm, when on the job.

Protective glasses, ear defenders and in some cases, face masks should be considered, depending on the job, the day-to-day working environment and practicality of wearing this workwear.

Bodywear

Regulating the body temperature and keeping warm and comfortable, when on the job has to be the main priority. In some cases, it could mean life or death, depending on the environment and how harsh the working conditions are.

Nevertheless, thermal clothing should act as the base layer over normal t-shirts, perhaps a thermal waistcoat, jacket or fleece should go on top of that for extra layers and superior comfort. For those required to wear a high viz jacket, it is suggested to go over the top for increased visibility.

Similar to bodywear, picking the suitable legwear is important to stay warm and comfortable on the job

Legwear

Similar to bodywear, picking the suitable legwear is important to stay warm and comfortable on the job. A good combination would be thermal wear as a base layer with work trousers over the top of those or high viz trousers for maximum visibility.

Footwear

Finally finishing off with footwear, thermal socks are important to keep the feet warm and stay clear of frostbite, as well as a good pair of work shoes that have plenty of grip to enable smooth walking in icy conditions.

All these products are currently available and in stock, at Granite Workwear, so be sure to go to the cold store category to see all the workwear.
