Starting a new job is always a daunting experience. It’s a brand new environment, with new colleagues and a new boss. The good news is, that they already like used as a person, hence why the user got the job!
But on the first day of a new job, deciding on what to wear can always be tricky. Granite discusses what users should wear on the first day to make a good first impression.
Men
Depending on the type of job taken on, the user has to dress for the occasion. If they are an office worker, they are going to dress differently from those who are starting a new builder’s position. And so, for those who are starting a new office job, a standard suit should suffice. Suit trousers, suit jacket, shirt, and tie with dress shoes, should be the go-to. However, this can be “relaxed” to a degree.
If it’s winter, users could always dress down slightly by wearing a pullover and leaving the suit jacket at home. As long as they look smart, clean, and presentable, this can go a long way to making good first impressions amongst colleagues and management.
Workwear
Granite would suggest emailing or calling to find out what users should wear on the first day
If the user is like most of the customers and works in a trade sector or for the council, then they should already have been given the work uniform and have a good idea of what to wear on the first day.
Depending on this, if users don’t know and their first day is coming up, Granite would suggest emailing or calling to find out what users should wear on the first day.
Women
Not much is different for ladies, the same rules apply. If the user is working in an office position then Granite would suggest a smart dress skirt or trousers. Heels should be fine as long as they’re smart, but remember comfort is key, even if users spend most of the day sitting at a desk, being comfortable in an outfit far outweighs the look.
With that being said, as much as the user would wish to wear the baggy hoodie and joggers, probably best to leave those at home. Instead, a blouse, shirt, skirt and or trousers with heels or smart shoes should be fine.
Making the first impression
If the user turns up in old clothes that are baggy and not appropriate, it doesn’t make a great first impression
The idea is to remind the new employer why they hired users. If the user turns up in old clothes that are baggy and not appropriate, it doesn’t make a great first impression and may even turn people away from wanting to speak and get to know.
And again, ladies if users are working on a construction site or something that’s more manual labor, then users should already have been given the workwear and if not, just ask!
Workwear range
So whatever the job and whatever user decides to wear, make a conscious effort to look and feel best. Granite Workwear can help with that. Take a look at the wide range of workwear styles both for the office and for trade-based jobs and everything in between.
With the wide range of workwear, it is confident users will find what they are looking for, not only at a great price but high-quality too which will last.
