Frequentis’ ASGARD product line, which is specifically designed for use in fire brigade and industrial control centers in Germany, is a flexible and highly reliable software solution for safety-critical control centers. ASGARD therefore reinforces our strong position in the German public safety market,” says Frequentis’ CEO Norbert Haslacher.

Frequentis has secured this contract under an EU-wide tender to harmonize the systems used by the Bochum and Herne fire brigade control centers as part of a collaboration project between the two cities, with ASGARD being used as the communication system for the geo-redundant control centers of both cities’ professional fire brigades.

Control center technology

As prime contractor, Frequentis Germany will be responsible for the delivery, integration, and servicing of the system. The control centers operated by the cities of Bochum and Herne in the federal state of North Rhine Westphalia provide communication services – handling emergency calls, alerting the emergency services, coordinating their deployment and dispatching ambulances.

The present project is an important step in the technical realization of the partnership agreed by the two cities’ fire brigades last year. The aim of harmonizing the control center technology is to enable each control center to take over from the other (redundancy), for example in the event of an evacuation or a need for additional capacity and to enable personnel from each city to support the other in the event of a major incident.

System outage scenarios

Harmonized training in use of the new technology should leverage synergies and enhance flexibility during major incidents. In addition, both control centers will have the necessary equipment and data to deal with system outage scenarios.

Using this state-of-the-art control center technology, it is possible to provide the general public with help faster and more effectively. Frequentis’ tried-and-tested software solution – the ASGARD communication system is already in use at over 35 control centers in Germany – provides high flexibility and reliability, as well as multiple options for integration into infrastructure, ensuring professional communication management for these tasks.
