Linear heat and fire detection cable (LHD) will sense an excessive temperature or fire condition at any point along its length and display its location at the control panel.

Designed for use in a wide variety of fire and heat detection applications, LHD cable is particularly suited for harsh environmental conditions, applications where maintenance access is in a physical or hazardous area, and/or where there is a requirement to cost-effectively install detection near the hazard.

advanced polymer and digital technologies

Linear Heat Detection cable is a combination of advanced polymer and digital technologies that can detect heat conditions anywhere along the length of the cable. The cable is comprised of two tri-metallic conductors individually insulated with a heat-sensitive polymer outer layer, and engineered to break down at specific fixed temperatures.

This allows the twisted conductors to make contact and initiate an alarm condition at the control panel, without any calibration for changes in the ambient temperature. Nor is it required that a specific length be heated to initiate an alarm, adding to the versatility of this unique product.

addressable monitor modules

The distance locating option allows the control panel to identify and display the exact location

For further flexibility, the LHD cable can be utilized with control panels by utilizing either addressable monitor modules on an intelligent system, or by connecting the cable directly to the detection circuit of a conventional panel.

In addition, the distance locating option allows the control panel to identify and display the exact location, in feet or meters from the control panel, where the heat source interacted with the linear heat detection. That’s a tremendous amount of valuable information in a small, easy-to-install and maintain detection package.

Confirmed Temperature Initiation – CTI

CTI is a unique Digital Linear Heat Detection technology created and patented by The Protectowire Company – US Patent No. 8,096,708.

Using a uniquely constructed detection cable combined with specialized monitoring circuitry CTI confirms thermal activation of the Digital Linear Heat Detector before an alarm is initiated thereby reducing the potential of “False Alarms”. Protectowire CTI Linear Heat Detectors are the only Digital Linear Heat Detector to provide Short Circuit Discrimination.

Protectowire FiberSystem 8000

The system consists of a Type PFS Fiber Optic Sensor Cable and the PTS Controllers with related software

The Protectowire FiberSystem 8000 is known throughout the world as one of the most reliable and intelligent linear heat detection systems using state-of-the-art fiber optic sensing technology.

The system consists of a Type PFS Fiber Optic Sensor Cable and the PTS Controllers with related software. The PTS Series Controllers can be configured for various alarm criteria and can be connected to an approved fire alarm control panel using relay inputs and outputs. Available in single lengths up to 10 kilometers. Provides temperature and location data along the length of the linear detector throughout the entire area of coverage.
