FirePro, in association with the Cyprus Organization for Standardization (CYS), has co-organized the meetings of ISO/TC 21 Committee, and its Subcommittees ISO/TC 21/SC3, ISO/TC 21/SC 5 and ISO/TC 21/SC 8.
The event, sponsored by FirePro, took place from the 25th October to the 28th of October 2022, at Miramare beach hotel in Limassol, Cyprus, with Working Groups also taking place during that week.
ISO/TC 21 Committee
The ISO/TC 21, Equipment for Fire Protection and Firefighting Committee develops equipment, system and installation standards for fire safety systems installed and used in and around buildings, together with firefighting equipment that may be transported to a fire scene.
Through the development, adoption and use of ISO/TC 21 standards, the capability to detect, restrict and extinguish fires is augmented. Delegations from Australia, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kenya, South Korea, United Kingdom, USA, and officials from the Geneva ISO Central Secretariat arrived in Cyprus and participated in the meetings.

In addition to the face-to-face participants, delegates from other countries, such as China, Netherlands and South Africa, which were not physically present had the opportunity to participate virtually.
FirePro’s Technical Director - Dr. Gian Guido Gianfilippi de Parenti, and the FirePro Certifications Compliance Manager - Mr. Vakis Ioakim, represented the CYS as national delegates in the ISO/TC21 and ISO/TC 21/SC 8.
Key issues discussed and resolutions agreed upon
During the meetings, important issues related to the scope of ISO/TC 21 Equipment for Fire Protection and Firefighting Committee and its Subcommittees were discussed and many resolutions were agreed upon and published by the International Organization for Standardization.

Celebrating the event and honoring participants
To celebrate the event and honor all participants, FirePro hosted a gala dinner at a local tavern, where the various delegations had the opportunity to taste the traditional cuisine and explore the medieval quarters and treasures of the City of Limassol, in Cyprus.
