CFD units responded to MVA with entrapment. R1 and E2 arrived on scene to find a single vehicle resting on its passenger side. EMS and CPD is on scene PTA. Pt is heavily entrapped. Due to being short staffed on initial response, mutual aid is requested. Pt’s head is partially ejected out of the A side/roof of the vehicle with c-spine being maintained by EMS and lower extremities appear to be pinned by dashboard.

Res-Q-Jacks and cribbing placed to stabilize the car. Firefighter was sent into passenger compartment to access the pt. Utilizing Amkus tools, pt was extricated. Cutters were used to cut C, B posts. Long ram was used to push passenger side dash, the firefighters were unable to free pt’s lower extremities.

Crews were placed on top side of vehicle and driver’s door hinges were cut. 32” spreaders were used to spread door from car, while a Come-a-long was used to capture progress. Crews were now able to access driver’s compartment and he is found to only be trapped by steering wheel. Small ram is used to push dash, freeing pt’s lower extremities. Pt was removed from the vehicle and placed in ambulance. Pt was transported emergency to trauma center.
