As the days and week pass and the lockdown ‘continue, the FIA has been successfully running training and CPD sessions online since early 2020. Looking forward and thoughts turn to how the FIA will continue training once we begin exiting from lockdown.

Online training

At the start of lockdown, FIA set out its plans that there will be no classroom training until the start of July and it would fully transition to providing its training online where possible.

First and foremost, the health and safety of delegates and trainers are of paramount importance and we will be consulting the best, latest and most relevant health and science advice before making any decisions about classroom-based learning.

Safe classroom-based return

There are several measures FIA can put in place to help classroom-based return to the safe learning environment

For June the FIA has decided that only exams would take place at Hampton and dates for these will be added shortly. This is allowing FIA to control the environment in which the training is held and ensures that the safety of delegates and trainers is prioritized.

There are several measures FIA can put in place to help classroom-based return to the safe learning environment that FIA remembers. For instance, FIA can do this by restricting the numbers within a classroom and halving the size of the normal classes to a number that is compliant with the latest government guidance.

Following recommended guidelines

As FIA would not want anyone else around the country to miss out on training they wish to take, it will still be running the training online to cater to those who can’t or do not wish to travel to Hampton.

In the best-case scenario, FIA would hope that classroom-based training at Hampton is available from July onwards, but as always, it will follow all the recommended guidelines before implementing a full classroom-based training program that will take place at Hampton during that month.
