The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) regional administrator has authorized the use of federal funds on April 19, 2022, in order to assist the US state of Arizona, to combat the Crooks Fire burning incident, which happened in Yavapai County, Arizona, in the United States of America (USA).

Federal Funds under FMAG

On April 19, 2022, the US State of Arizona submitted a request for a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG). At the time of the request, the fire threatened 700 homes, which were located in and around the communities of Potato Patch, Mountain Pine, Groom Creek and Walker, in Arizona.

The fire also threatened 50 businesses, local fire stations, a community center, the local post office, an elementary school, and the infrastructure power lines in the affected area.

Fire Management Assistance Grants

Fire Management Assistance Grants provide federal funding for up to 75 percent of eligible firefighting costs.

The Disaster Relief Fund provides allowances for FMAGs through FEMA to assist in fighting fires that threaten to become a greater incident.

Eligible costs covered by the Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) can include expenses for field camps, equipment use, materials, supplies and mobilization, and demobilization activities attributed to fighting the fire.
