The Built Environment Quality Management Systems standard was published in July 2022. UKAS has recently been asked if it is able to offer accreditation for this new management system standard.

Accreditation would be to ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015 (Conformity assessment–Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems). It is understood that the responsible BS Committee is developing guidance for the standard, with an anticipated timescale of 12 months.

Certification from CABs

UKAS would like to gauge the likely level of interest there may be from Conformity Assessment Bodies

As this standard is a new ISO9001:2015 sector scheme in the field of QMS accreditation, UKAS would like to gauge the likely level of interest there may be from Conformity Assessment Bodies, who would want to certify organizations against BS99001:2022.

The level of interest for certification from CABs and also their clients will assist UKAS in determining the best way forward with a development project for this area.

Gauge the demand for the new standard

This is an initial announcement to gauge the demand for the new standard, please provide feedback to UKAS by the 14th of October 2022.

To enable UKAS to determine the priority of this new area of accreditation please provide the following information:

  • How many clients do you have that are interested in being certificated to BS99001?
  • When do they envisage that they will be ready to offer certification to BS99001?
  • When will the clients be ready for a Stage 1 and Stage 2 audit?
  • Where do the majority of the potential clients operate (solely UK, Solely Europe, Rest of the world)?
