national Emergency Services Day
The National Emergency Services Day event begins at 9 am on the ninth day of the ninth month with two minutes’ silence to remember the more than 7,500 members of the emergency services who have been killed, as a result of performing their duties.
The remainder of the day will allow people to show their support for NHS and emergency services staff
The remainder of the day will allow people to show their support for NHS and emergency services staff, and volunteers, by using the hashtag #999DayUK on social media.
Learn about opportunities
Dorothy Hosein, EEAST Chief Executive, said “Emergency Services Day gives us the opportunity to celebrate the dedication of our hard-working staff and volunteers while thanking all 999 workers for their selflessness and commitment. It is also a fantastic chance for anyone interested in a career in the emergency services to learn more about the wide range of available opportunities."
Dorothy Hosein adds, “We are proud to support and promote the excellent work carried out in partnership with our blue light colleagues across the region. No two days are the same in any emergency service, which is why we rely on our staff and volunteers' teamwork, honesty, and dedication to keep people safe. My thanks go to each and every one of them.”
