East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) has held two special ceremonies to celebrate and thank its dedicated staff who have together clocked up more than 9,700 years of service.

A total of 470 frontline and support staff were invited to the award evenings held at Wyboston in Bedfordshire and Newmarket in Suffolk in late June to mark service of 20, 35, and 40 years. In addition, 154 staff were also presented with the Queen’s Medal, which marks 20 years of frontline service.

Celebrating service offered by EEAST

Tom Abell, the Chief Executive of EEAST, said “It was fantastic to come together to celebrate the service that our people provide to our patients and communities throughout what has been an incredibly demanding time.  I would like to extend my personal thanks to them all.”

Marika Stephenson, the Director of People Services at EEAST, said, It was great to come together and celebrate our dedicated staff. Everyone really enjoyed themselves on the two evenings and they were a fantastic way to thank our staff for their hard work, commitment, and loyalty to our patients and our community.”

The events took place at Newmarket Racecourse on Tuesday 28 June and at Wyboston Lakes on Thursday 30 June. The Wyboston awards were presented by the Vice Lord Lieutenant for Bedfordshire, Christopher Sharwood-Smith MBE DL, while Joanna Spicer MBE, Deputy Lord-Lieutenant for Suffolk, gave out the awards in Newmarket.
