Bedfordshire Fire And Rescue Service Launches A New Technical Support Unit At Dunstable Fire Station

BFRS launches a new Technical Support Unit which is based at Dunstable Fire Station. This is the first of its kind in the country. This new vehicle will respond to Bariatric and complex patient incidents where emergency removal of a patient is required to support the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST). At 20:30 hours Sunday, July 12th, Engine 811 (E811) responded to a reported structure fire in the 11200 block of Evans Trail Road in Beltsville. The first arriving units reported heavy fire showing from Side Charlie. E811 turned out with 6 firefighters and operated as the Rapid Intervention Crew (RIT). At 20:00 hours, E811 responded to a reported basement fire in the 7300 block of 16th Place in Co. 34’s area. E811 turned out with 6 and arrived on the scene, where units found smoke showing and a fire in the basement. The fire was soon knocked by E834 and searches were negative. C811B marked up to respond as well. Units on scene reported fire in a restaurant kitchen within a shopping center. The fire was quickly brought under control by PE844 and TK855’s crews. E811B Operates On 2 Alarm Fire

On March 26th, E811B was dispatched for a working fire in company 33’s area as an additional unit to the second alarm. Upon arrival, command directed the E811B crew to the delta exposure to check for extension into neighboring apartments. E811B pulled the ceiling, opened up walls, and confirmed no spread of the fire. E811B operated for approximately 1 hour before returning to service.

On March 21st, 2021 E811B and A811 were dispatched for a multi-vehicle collision on BW parkway at Beaver Dam Rd. Upon arrival, both units initiated patient care and checked all disabled vehicles. All occupants self extricated with non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to local trauma centers.
