Draeger at fire and rescue with its new products at this year's show
Draeger's extensive range of
firefighting
products were showcased
at this year's
show

A wealth of new products including chemical protection suits, firefighting helmets, self-contained breathing apparatus and thermal imaging cameras were unveiled by Draeger at Interschutz 2010.

As well as innovative new products, visitors to the stand will also be able to see Draeger’s complete system solution for firefighters which incorporates the latest in compressed air breathing apparatus, full face masks, head-up-displays, electronic monitoring, thermal imaging cameras and customised training. The system can be put together as a series of mix-and-match components to meet different operational requirements. Draeger also displayed its extensive range of personal escape systems and diagnostic equipment for non-invasive drug and alcohol testing. In addition, details of the latest Draeger training courses were available.

Draeger has developed and produced chemical protection suits for over 50 years. Resistant to flames, chemicals, warfare agents and liquified ddgases, the new Draeger CPS 7900 chemical protection suit displays high mechanical resistance and can be used in potentially explosive atmospheres. Easily meeting international standards, this gas-tight suit is designed for use in extreme conditions where higher levels of protection are required.

Featuring a new material - D-mex - the suit provides special resistance to a wide variety of toxic substances and offers comprehensive protection from chemical effects, liquified gases, and bursts of flames. Providing protection in potentially explosive atmospheres, D-mex also protects when working with frozen and hazardous substances in temperatures down to -80°C. The combination of a sturdy elastomer layer, chemically resistant laminate layer, and tear-proof material ensures that the suit even retains its protective properties if the surface is damaged. With its new material, the Draeger CPS 7900 not only meets all the specified standards for reusable protection suits, but it also exceeds the requirements for emergency teams from firefighters, rescue services and industry.

Draeger's firefighting applications are designed to keep their protective properties under high thermal influence and maintaining wearer's protection

Designed for single-exposure applications, the new Draeger CPS 5900 is the world's first chemical protection suit approved by EN 943 Part 1 & 2 (ET) and the SOLAS Convention. Ideal for use when working with dangerous substances or hazardous goods, this limited use chemical protection suit offers an effective and reliable alternative to reusable versions. Meeting the international requirements of firefighting, rescue services and industry, this lightweight, gas-tight suit protects against many industrial chemicals. Developed for low-risk situations such as control measurements or the transfer of toxic substances where there is no risk of explosion, it also easily meets and exceeds European and International standards of protection.

Lightweight, rugged and comfortable to wear, the ergonomic Draeger VFR Pro Helmet is designed for use in firefighting, industrial, marine, offshore and military applications. Available in two versions to suit the needs of high heat environments such as those found in structural firefighting, flash-over training and wildland firefighting, it is also equally suited to rescue and technical assistance operations.

Innovative in design, this stylish helmet is designed for both comfort and performance and is believed to be the lightest helmet to meet EN443: 2008-B. Maintaining clear visibility, even when worn with a gold tinted visor, it offers the highest EN166 and EN14458 optical performance levels with Class 1 for both eye shield and face shield. As a further benefit, the helmets are available in thermoplastic and composite materials. (Composite materials are particularly beneficial in firefighting applications as they are specifically designed to keep their shape and protective properties under high thermal influences, maintaining optimum wearer protection.)
