Just before 2:00 am, CFS was alerted to reports of a structure fire on a rural property along the Eyre Highway, approximately 20kms east of Penong in the state’s far west. A hayshed containing over 200 bales of hay was alight, with the fire being so large it was visible from the highway and a good samaritan truck driver reported it to 000. The shed was not able to be saved with losses estimated at $400,000. There have been no injuries and the fire cause is under investigation. CFS crews are expected to remain at the scene for approximately another half an hour.
