Advanced’s MxPro multiprotocol fire panel allows customers to choose from two ranges of fully networkable intelligent panels, four protocols and a completely open installer network
The fire system based around Advanced’s MxPro panels was installed and commissioned by Firecrest Services

A landmark London school, designed by one of the world’s leading architects, has had its fire system upgraded with an MxPro multiprotocol fire system from Advanced.

Designed by Foster and Partners, the award-winning Capital City Academy was built to the highest standards as a new breed of school, creating an environment that nurtures and inspires young people.

The fire system, which is based around Advanced’s industry-leading MxPro 5 panels, was installed and commissioned by Firecrest Services Ltd. It is a major upgrade from the old closed protocol wireless system and was specified because of the openness, flexibility and performance offered by Advanced’s systems.

MxPro is Advanced’s unbeatable multiprotocol fire panel; it allows customers to choose from two ranges of fully networkable intelligent panels, four protocols and a completely open installer network which benefits from free training and support.

“Advanced’s reputation for quality and reliability means our products are specified in many of the capital’s most prestigious developments and of course it’s always very pleasing to see prestigious locations upgrading and enjoying the advantages of an Advanced system” said Robin Kemp, Advanced’s Sales Manager for the London area.

The radical design of the building Challenges meant that some parts of the system had to be specially adapted to fit and the ease of installation of the MxPro 5 came into its own. The MxPro 5 control panel offers quick, simple installation and configuration.

Eddie Forsyth of Firecrest said: “We always specify Advanced panels where possible because we know they deliver the quality and reliability that our customers expect. It offers extraordinary ease of use and its aesthetics make it ideal for any location.”

The system installed in the Capital City Academy is a Firecrest turnkey package. This means that, working with Advanced and the on-site contractors, Firecrest can deliver a simple and cost-effective solution that is integrated seamlessly into the systems and fabric of the building. It is also simple for staff to manage on a day-to-day basis and straightforward to maintain in the longer term.

David Solvey of prime contractor Bouygues said: “The new fire alarm system was part of series of enhancements to the Capital City Academy building, which all needed to be completed within the six-week summer break. The brief for the system was a very clear one and, working with Firecrest, we were able to identify Advanced as the best solution for the client. The adaptability of the product and its compatibility with a range of other fire systems were key considerations.”

MxPro 5 panels are compatible with Apollo, Argus, Hochiki and Nittan protocols and come in 1-8 loop formats with a complete range of compatible devices and peripherals. Its processing power means it delivers greater capability than any other Advanced. It is easily installed from single panel, single loop installations to 200 node networks covering vast areas with many 1000s of devices. It offers significant features and advantages as standard including a unique scope-one-board diagnostic tool and advanced false alarm management. ‘Select and Click’ configuration, autolearn and loop detection are also included.
