Choice Fire & Security Solutions has installed and commissioned fire and security alarm systems at the new, combined Church of England Primary School, Pre-School, and integrated village hall community facilities in Etchingham, West Sussex. Choice was awarded the contract for this development by M&E contractor Mechanical Services Ltd. The project’s main contractor was Balfour Beatty.

This greenfield construction is arranged in three, connected, modern, timber clad ‘barns’, arranged to respond to the sloping site on the edge of the village. The barns have slate roofs with extended canopies and glazed gables. Intruder protection for the site incorporates 31 TriCover dual-output movement detectors and 10 alarm door contacts located at the entrance doors, plant room, and other specific risk locations. The system is connected to Emizon IP signaling, which allows 24-hour remote access.

The access system is operated locally via the site’s administration PC Card access control is based around a PLAN access control system with door reader locations including the main entrance and lobby door from reception leading to the school area, as well as the Pre-School entrance doors. The access system is operated locally via the site’s administration PC; for all reporting requirements and card allocation, the setting of card access levels, time profiles, etc.

The analog addressable fire detection and alarm system provided by Choice comprises of 34 smoke detectors, four heat detectors, 21 call-points, 44 alarm sounders, and six firedoor holders.
