Checkmate's CheckSafe initiative was seen in action when COO, David Woffendin, and Operations Director, Simon Kelly visited one of the South East based sites, where they were shown around by Supervisor, Deividas Jocys.
CheckSafe embeds a culture of working safely on-site and encourages that doing so is a collaborative effort. The question “Am I working Safely?” encourages building users to communicate easily with the business, and enables them to “correct and learn”, ensuring the site teams remain safe.
Safety Big 5’ checklist
Before work begins, the operatives ensure each of the sites adheres to the ‘Safety Big 5’ checklist.
- The operative has access to and agrees with the site-specific safety paperwork
- The operative is aware of the site and company-specific incident and emergency reporting procedures
- Appropriate and branded PPE is worn
- Workspace is segregated from other building users
- The workspace is clean, tidy, and free from slip, trip, or fall hazards
