CheckFire Ltd, a global provider of fire safety solutions, is proud to announce the launch of its new Green Crosshair PFAS-free fire extinguisher range.

This innovative product line is fully compliant with the European Chemicals Agency's proposed EU-wide restriction on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in firefighting foams, including the recently added PFHxA.

Often called 'forever chemicals', PFAS are highly persistent in the environment

Often called 'forever chemicals', PFAS are highly persistent in the environment, posing long-term risks to ecosystems and human health. The anticipated regulation, expected to come into effect by December 2030, represents a crucial move toward safeguarding the planet.

In response, CheckFire is proactively updating its portfolio, ensuring customers remain compliant with the latest industry standards.

CheckFire introduces The Green Crosshair

Earlier this year, CheckFire introduced The Green Crosshair, a symbol representing PFAS-free fire extinguishers under The Green Range. Soon, this symbol will be featured across the entire product line for all PFAS-free products, reinforcing the company’s commitment to environmentally responsible fire safety solutions.

As part of this transition, some of CheckFire’s legacy products will be phased out over the coming months. To support customers through this shift, CheckFire is rolling out fluorine-free alternatives across its popular Commander and CommanderEDGE ranges.

CheckFire’s interactive product map

Customers can easily navigate these changes using CheckFire’s new interactive product map, which highlights discontinued items and their PFAS-free replacements, including their availability timeline.

These new products will maintain the high quality, performance, and innovation that customers have come to expect from CheckFire, with the added benefit of being environmentally safe and PFAS-free. CheckFire’s forward-thinking strategy ensures that when the UK introduces its own PFAS ban, customers will experience a seamless transition without compromising on performance or safety.

standard of fire safety equipment

Cameron Robins, Managing Director of CheckFire, commented: "Our priority is to provide the highest standard of fire safety equipment, while staying ahead of regulatory changes. By phasing out PFAS-containing products and introducing fluorine-free alternatives, we’re not only ensuring compliance with upcoming regulations but also reinforcing our commitment to environmental protection."

He adds, "Our customers can continue to trust CheckFire for innovative, reliable solutions that meet both today’s needs and tomorrow’s challenges."

Further details on the new fluorine-free products will be shared soon.
