At approximately 8:45 am in the morning, CFS crews were called to a structure fire on Lady Bay Road in Normanville. On arrival, crews found a house fully involved in fire, and quickly requested more resources to assist in their firefighting efforts.

More than 20 volunteer firefighters from eight trucks worked to control the fire and were able to stop it from spreading to the neighboring properties.

Conducting atmospheric monitoring

SA Police and SA Ambulance were on scene to provide assistance, with one firefighter being transported to the hospital for precautionary checks after the ceiling collapsed due to the fire. Damages are estimated at $1.2 million. There was no one home at the time and the cause is unknown at this stage, with Fire Cause Investigators to attend.

The intensity of the fire caused large amounts of black smoke to be visible in the surrounding areas, and a specialist HazMat CFS brigade from Willunga were on scene to conduct atmospheric monitoring as a precaution. The main fire has now been extinguished and there is no danger to the general public, however, they recommend locals keep their windows and doors closed.
