Stand 418a (Halle1) at the Security Essen 2008 exhibition saw the launch of CERTALARM, a brand new pan-European, third party, one-stop testing and certification scheme for the fire and security industries.
Following the successful registration of CERTALARM in Brussels as a not-for-profit association ('Association international sans but lucratif' - AISBL), the new scheme offers a unique European quality mark based on 3rd party one-stop certification to the EN54 fire standards and EN501 series of security standards.
This has long been a goal of manufacturers of fire protection and security systems who have been faced with bureaucratic, costly and time consuming procedures, often involving multiple testing for products and services to be accepted in EU member states.
Derek Harrington, a Director of CERTALARM, was amongst those representing the scheme on the Essen stand, along with representatives from Europe's leading fire and security products and systems manufacturers who are fully behind the implementation of CERTALARM.
Mr Harrington commented: "Essen is an important international event for the security industry and increasingly for the fire industry, with a dedicated fire protection hall being introduced for the first time in 2008.
With over 40,000 visitors from 56 countries attending the last show, it is a tremendous opportunity for us to inform a truly global audience of what is a significant development in the security and fire protection arena."
