Bristol’s two new fire hoods are compliant with EN13911:2004 and its flexibility ensures fully security in operational situations

Bristol’s fire hood 1 has a two layer construction using PBI Gold Rib outer with an Aramid viscose inner layer

In a move to provide its customers with bespoke PPE products to complement its growing range of fire coats and trousers, Bristol is launching its own in-house design and manufactured fire hood range. Available in two styles and colours, the new range is now available.

The Bristol Fire Hood 1 is a two layer construction using a PBI Gold® Rib outer with an Aramid Viscose inner layer. The Bristol Fire Hood 2 is black and incorporates a double layer Carbonised Fibre/Para Aramid blend. Both new products are designed and manufactured to BS EN13911:2004.

Focusing on comfort with safety, both products are superbly comfortable, providing improved fit in garments which are both breathable and wickable. Easy to put on and take off, a major element of this new design provides increased coverage to the shoulder area to reduce the risk of ‘roll up’ around the neck and when worn with a breathing apparatus mask. The flexibility of the fabrics used ensures full security in operational situations.

Commenting on the introduction of Bristol’s first own design fire hoods, Roger Startin, Bristol’s joint managing director, said, “Increasingly we are looking to use the wealth of customer feedback we get from around the world to introduce new product designs. These not only offer improved comfort and performance but enable us to offer advantages over existing products currently on the market. The development programme has included extensive testing by firefighters in full fire gear to ensure the full compatibility of these new fire hoods with other PPE”.
