Fireworks can be beautiful, but they can be unpredictable and deadly. Numerous fires every year result from the use of personal fireworks. The possession, use or sale of any type of personal fireworks, including 'safe and sane' fireworks, is against the law in any part of the Big Bear Valley.

The use of illegal fireworks places the entire community, as well as our first responders at risk,” stated Big Bear Fire Marshal, Mike Maltby.

Enforcing state and local fireworks laws

With the mountain areas facing another very dangerous wildland fire season, the Big Bear Fire Department has increased its vigilance in enforcing state and local fireworks laws to protect public health and safety. The possession, use or sales of illegal fireworks is subject to fines of $1,000 with the possibility of arrest.

For fireworks viewing, Visit Big Bear of Big Bear Lake organizes an annual event for locals and visitors with world-class fireworks show on the evening of July 4th, visible from many vantage points. Sit back and enjoy the show. Big Bear Fire Department encourages the community to make safety the first priority this holiday.
