On 10th March the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) published guidance information for UK Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) intending to subcontract tasks, such as testing, certification, or inspection.

This information is appropriate for:

  • UK Approved Bodies
  • UK Notified Bodies (for the Northern Ireland market)
  • GB Appointed Bodies (for transportable pressure equipment)
  • User Inspectorates
  • Recognized Third Party Organizations (pressure equipment)

UKCA conformity assessment

The guidance outlines the types of activity that can and cannot be subcontracted within the UKCA conformity assessment and the responsibilities CABs hold about subcontracted activities.

The guidance also includes the process CABs should adhere to when engaging a subcontractor and the requirements subcontractors should fulfill.
