On 5th February 1974, 50 years ago the very first meeting of the British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association was held. 

The seven founding member companies were: AFA Minerva, (EMI) Ellis Fire Protection, Fire Snow, Haden Young, Mather & Platt, Matthew Hall Mechanical Services, Merrol Fire Protection, and Mr. Leslie Heaviside of Mather & Platt was made BAFSA’s fire chairman. 

Achievements in fire safety

On 8th February BAFSA will be celebrating its achievements in improving fire safety at the House of Lords with some of the people who have helped and supported our aims along the way, along with several key events throughout the year to mark this anniversary milestone.

Here’s to the next 50 years when BAFSA hopes to see fire sprinklers a mandatory requirement in all buildings. Thank you to all of the members who continue to help BAFSA to achieve that aim.
