The concept offers reliable fire and gas detection on a single platform delivering dramatic value and lowering first installed and maintenance costs.
VESDA ECO by Xtralis won "Best in Detection Controls, Devices and Sensors Award" at the ISC West 2011

Recipient of prestigious awards showcase award-winning VESDA ECO™ at FIREX - the leading industry exhibition.

Xtralis™, the company behind VESDA, showcases the award winning VESDA ECO™ innovative technology designed for very early warning aspirating smoke detection. This system pioneers the concept of offering both reliable fire and gas detection on a single platform delivering dramatic value and lowering first installed and maintenance costs.

VESDA ECO by Xtralis was awarded "Best in Detection Controls, Devices and Sensors Award" last month at the ISC West 2011 New Product Showcase (NPS) while competing against 84 other entries. ISC West is the largest North American and one of the major global exhibitions in the industry, last year it was attended by over 23,000 participants.

David Shuford, Alarm & Detection Manager with Firetrol Protection Systems says: “The product offers us lower ongoing maintenance costs while utilising less equipment. Combined smoke and gas detection provides us with better protection. The benefits of active detection far outweigh those of passive detection. VESDA ECO by Xtralis just makes sense.”

VESDA ECO uses new or existing VESDA pipe networks to reliably detect smoke in addition to hazardous/combustible gases to ensure air quality. It also integrates intuitively with other building management systems for real-time situational awareness and intelligent emergency response, including the activation of demand-controlled ventilation to control costs and conserve energy.

“…VESDA ECO has delivered and proved its superior detection capabilities and tremendous cost savings over traditional gas detection solutions...”

“For more than 25 years, Xtralis has been on the forefront of innovation in the life safety industry, delivering robust solutions to protect people, property and business continuity, and we are proud to be recognised and awarded for our innovation,” explains Alasdair Williamson, Chief Technical Officer and GM, Environmental at Xtralis. “Since its launch a year ago, VESDA ECO has delivered and proved its superior detection capabilities and tremendous cost savings over traditional gas detection solutions. Average capital cost savings are between 25% and 46% with annual operating cost savings anywhere between 50% and 76%. This is the value we strive to deliver to our customers and end users.”

VESDA ECO has been deployed worldwide in providing a point, zone or total-area coverage to suit different applications in a wide array of environments. Installations include battery-charging rooms, underground utility tunnels, boiler rooms, manufacturing facilities, parking garages and transportation centres. The systems intuitively integrate with fire alarm control panels (FACP), programmable logic controllers (PLC), heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and building management systems (BMS) to provide real-time situational awareness for intelligent emergency response. No construction or electrical conduit is required.
