The 50th Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) exercise, the premier maritime-focused exercise in the Baltic Region, took place in the Baltic Sea from June 6 to June 18, 2021.
Air and maritime assets from NATO allies and partner nations were involved in the live training events. Training focus areas included maritime interdiction, mine countermeasure and amphibious operations.

The exercise enhances flexibility and interoperability among allied and partner nations, in order to strengthen combined response capabilities to protect and defend the Baltic Sea region.
18 nations participated in the BALTOPS exercise, including Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom (U.K.) and the United States of America (U.S.A.).
