Ara safety saved neighboring structure by preventing spread of flames from the fire building |
For the second time in one week, the Providence Volunteer Fire Department used their Ara Safety Pro Fire Interruption Technology device. This time, the device bought time and saved the neighboring structure from potential damage.
Once on scene, Fire Chief David Atwell and his crew were faced with a well-advanced fire in a converted mobile home with extreme exposure on the fire side of the structure. The fire had already breached the roof in several places and was moving towards the neighboring home that was 25 feet away.
With apparatus en route and water approximately 7 minutes away, the decision was made to deploy the Ara Safety Pro to prevent spread of flames, reduce temperature, and buy time.
“The [Ara Pro] performed well and did buy the needed time to get water on the fire which I feel saved the adjacent home”, said Chief Atwell.
Unfortunately, the fire was too advanced for the fire building to be saved, and was lost in the fire. The adjacent building, however, did not suffer any damage.
This is the second Ara Safety Pro deployment in one week by the Providence Fire Department. On July 7, the department used the device to knock down a garage fire and make interior attack safer for crew members.
