Holidaymakers and partygoers visiting a new exclusive hotel on the Balearic Island of Ibiza can party and relax in safety as well as style, thanks to the very latest in fire detection solutions from Apollo Fire Detectors.

The Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel completed the building of its new hotel wing, The Ushuaïa Tower, in May 2013. With breathtaking views of the Mediterranean sea and Playa d'en Bossa beach, the eight-story hotel offers 181 indulgent rooms with state-of-the-art technology and luxury features, as well as two restaurants and conference facilities for up to 200 people.

As part of the build, global fire detection manufacturer, Apollo Fire Detectors, was selected as the technology provider by Pitiusas de Seguridad, the company appointed to supply and commission the fire system for the new hotel wing.

In total, nearly 650 Apollo XP95 detectors were specified to meet the main fire detection requirements in the Ushuaïa Tower. The intelligent system was designed around two networked four-loop Kentec Syncro fire panels approved and certified to EN54 parts 2 and 4.

In addition to luxury accommodation, the Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel complex is also famous for hosting open-air parties, attracting up to 5,000 people a night who flock to see the biggest DJs in the world, as well as a host of celebrity and VIP guests.

Due to the vibrant nature of the hotel, a large number of guests and visitors are present both inside and outside of the premises at any given time. This, coupled with the fact that very loud music is a feature of the Ushuaïa experience, led the Apollo design team to recommend a wide variety of interior and exterior fire sounders and visual indicators, including multi-tone alerts,

Jose Cazorla, General Manager at Pitiusas de Seguridad, comments: “Apollo’s XP95 range had already proven to be a high quality, safe and reliable fire detection system at the original Ushuaïa Beach Hotel, so we had no hesitation in recommending it for the new The Ushuaïa Tower.“

“The two wings of the hotel are now fully networked with a fire detection system that has been specifically designed to cope with the demands of a busy hotel, which has a large turnover of guests on a regular basis. We’re confident that Apollo’s fire detection solutions will protect the Ushuaïa Tower and its guests for many years to come.”

Matt Pay, International Sales Development Manager at Apollo Fire Detectors, adds: “It’s great to see our innovative technologies applied abroad in such an exciting and vibrant location. We worked closely with one of our key distributors, Activi Seguridad y Sistemas, to ensure they recommended the best fire detection solutions for the hotel’s specific requirements. It was also great to have the opportunity to build on the previous success of Apollo’s XP95 range at the Ushuaïa hotel complex.”
