Coronavirus was first discovered in 2019, it has since spread across the globe. It is believed to be transmitted in a similar manner to the normal flu/cold virus.

APE takes very seriously the safety and welfare of all its staff, and any clients that they may come into contact with and consequently they move swiftly to maintain everybody’s safety. No member of APE staff will knowingly be sent to any client site if the staff member is infected with a virus.

Self-Isolation procedure

If a member of APE staff is diagnosed with Coronavirus, APE can still operate at full capacity by utilizing other resources, service will not be compromised.

APE has the ability for key members of staff to work from home and/or to relocate to alternative premises

Any member of staff that has visited the known Coronavirus high-risk areas will not be allowed to work until they have completed the self-isolation procedure and are clear of any flu-like symptoms in line with the latest government advice. If the Coronavirus becomes an issue with several members of staff, APE has the ability for key members of staff to work from home and/or to relocate to alternative premises so that we suffer no loss of service.

Acute respiratory syndrome

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and possibly death.

The following measures are the current recommendations from the NHS website:

  • Wash hands with soap and water often – Do this for at least 20 seconds
  • Always wash hands when the user gets home or to work
  • Use hand sanitizer gel if soap and water are not available
  • Cover the mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve (not the hands) when users cough or sneeze
  • Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterward
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
