APE Fire & Security were contracted as part of a 63,292 sq. ft. expansion project that allowed Thatchers Cider’s production capacity at their Myrtle Farm facility to double, so as to allow them to more easily meet the growing demand for their nationally renowned cider.
Cider manufacturing facility
Thatchers Cider’s Managing Director, Martin Thatcher said “This investment was about our confidence in the cider market and in the future of the state-of-the-art cider manufacturing facility here at Myrtle Farm.”
Martin adds, “Our aim has always been to produce fantastic ciders at Thatchers that are of the highest quality on both quality and consistency. Our existing mill has served us well for many years, but we needed to increase our capacity to meet growing demand.”

Sustainable and energy efficiency
The new cider mill facility uses less energy as it is sustainably powered by energy generated on site, keeping in line with Thatchers Cider’s dedication to sustainability. Their dedication towards green energy and sustainability is visible from their campaign to plant 150,000 new apple trees over the last seven years.
The Jubilee building, a state-of-the-art packaging facility was completed by Thatchers Cider at the end of 2012, while the Base Tank building, another world class fermentation and cider storage facility was completed at the end of 2015.
