Innovation necessarily involves the development of “smart” technologies that are often able to interact with the surrounding environment.

This is precisely the principle behind the Smart Jacket made by Alfredo Grassi SpA, a company based in Lonate Pozzolo which has been active since 1925 and which over time has gained great experience in the production of protective clothing.

Smart Jacket

It is possible to acquire and monitor various parameters related to the body and surrounding environment

"The application of new technologies to clothing has allowed us to develop the Smart Jacket, an intelligent product for the Fire Brigade", explains Daniela Ferroni, head of the Research and Development department of the Alfredo Grassi SpA group.

Through this innovative system, it is possible to acquire and monitor various parameters related to the body (body temperature, sweat, heart rate) as well as the surrounding environment (air temperature, NOx, CO, methane, hydrogen).

Wearable Technology

The Smart Jacket is equipped with a thermal imaging camera that is useful both to the operator and to the control room, a visual and audible signaling system capable of signaling an emergency, a Bluetooth device that monitors the operator's heart rate, and, from lastly, connectivity for remote management and monitoring.

In short, a real revolution on the security front. "This is only the beginning," continues Ferroni. "Our goal is to use this technology also in other work areas". A symptom of how much  "Wearable Technology" represents the future in the hi-tech field and, of course, of how digital is rapidly changing our lives.
