Akron Brass, a trusted brand of IDEX Fire & Safety, has expanded its revolutionary SAM™ automated water control offerings with SAM BOOST, a retrofitted SAM system that can add new safety and efficiency to any fire apparatus.

controlling the nozzle

SAM BOOST offers a new way for firefighters at the scene to control the nozzle, different from the full SAM system,” said Jeff Van Meter, Director of Global Apparatus for IDEX Fire & Safety. “It is the most efficient way to equip all your team members with technology that they can easily use.”

SAM BOOST is a scaled-down version of SAM that applies the core of the SAM System, allowing up to two hose lines with automated water flow that can be controlled at the nozzle.

Benefits of SAM BOOST

  • Simpler operation – SAM’s parts automation of the pumping process saves time and simplifies decision-making, alleviating stress for the pump operator.
  • Faster production – BOOST helps double the productivity of the first crew, allowing a critical secondary water source to establish more quickly.
  • Safer process – SAM adds safety across dimensions, from a combination of an operator whose time is freed up to maintain visibility with the attack crew.

wireless nozzle-to-pump communication

By working alongside the SAM System, it balances on-scene water pressure and flows with advanced technology

SAM BOOST also includes two Akron Turbojet™, Assault™, or Smooth Bore tips that are compatible with the SAM™ Smart Nozzle, paired to the SAM™ system. SAM Smart Nozzle is a wireless nozzle-to-pump communication that gives the firefighter at the scene control of the water flow.

By working alongside the SAM System, it balances on-scene water pressure and flows with advanced technology to improve communication and reduce fireground risks.

optimizing performance

SAM BOOST offers fireground improvements through heightening safety and optimizing performance,” Van Meter said.

We commit to recruiting the next generation of firefighters by equipping them with high tech – not mechanical – equipment.”
