A wholly owned subsidiary of Ei Electronics, Aico is the first name in residential fire protection in the UK
The new RDMs will provide support to distributors across all market segments including wholesalers across the UK

Aico, a market leader in domestic Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) protection products, has announced some key organisational changes that will see the company into a new phase of development.

“As a progressive and innovating company,” states Michael Guinee, Managing Director of Aico and parent company Ei Electronics, “Aico is moving into a new phase and is bringing changes to the organisational structure to ensure continuing success, whilst increasing the amount of field support for our customers.”

After six successful years, Barrie Ryan has announced his retirement and has stepped down from his role as Sales and Marketing Director. “Barrie can be proud of the legacy he leaves at Aico and Ei Electronics” states Mr Guinee. “During his six and a half years as Sales and Marketing Director, Barrie and his team have doubled sales. This has been some achievement especially as this period has coincided with the economic downturn in the UK and elsewhere.”

Barrie’s successor is Neal Hooper, who joined the Company in January 2014 as Commercial Director and has worked closely with Barrie during the transition period. Neal is now assuming additional responsibility for sales, marketing and technical with immediate effect, which is the culmination of the planned succession move initiated over a year ago.

Alongside this change at Director level, there are other organisation changes being implemented concurrently. The Regional Manager structure sees the appointment of new Regional Distribution Managers (RDMs). The RDMs will work closely with the Regional Specification Managers (RSMs) and provide support to distributors across all market segments including wholesalers across the UK. This is aimed at cementing Aico’s reputation for having resources on the ground supporting the business from specification through to distribution.

Two long serving Aico employees, Michael Wright and James Cavan will move into new positions within Aico. Michael will continue his role under the new title of Marketing Manager and James Cavan will move into the new position of National Sales Manager, focusing primarily on national accounts and projects.

Completing the new team is Martyn Walley, who recently joined Aico as the new National Technical Manager. Martyn will be taking over from long standing Aico employee and industry spokesperson Neil Perdell, who is retiring after more than 20 years with Aico. Martyn has previously held senior positions with Chubb Fire and ADT and will be using his extensive knowledge and experience to maintain Aico’s outstanding technical reputation within the industry.

A wholly owned subsidiary of Ei Electronics, Aico is the first name in residential fire protection in the UK. Aico works in partnership with local authorities, housing associations, housing developers, specifiers, contractors and wholesalers, bringing its unrivalled products, experience and expertise to help customers ensure they get the very best fire and CO protection possible. All alarms are designed and built in Europe specifically to meet the UK standards and regulations.
