ADT’s Manchester office complies with demanding measures relevant to New York street unique environmental set-up and scope
ADT received the awards for its strategic investment in its stat-of-the-art Customer Service Centre

ADT Fire & Security, Europe’s leading provider of electronic fire and security solutions, has announced that it has received the prestigious Ska Gold environmental accreditation award for its strategic investment in its state-of-the-art Customer Service Centre on New York Street in Manchester.

This recognition will be the first rating of its kind in the Northern region of the UK.  ADT has rolled out specific sustainability initiatives in the office space on New York Street - building an intelligent workplace from the ground up. This environmentally-led approach has enhanced service operations and overall business output, created innovative recycling schemes and waste disposal procedures, and dramatically lowered carbon emissions.

The Ska rating is an environmental assessment method which evaluates the environmental impact of a workspace to a flexible project-led scope of criteria that covers 104 best practice measures including covering CO2 emissions, waste, pollution and transport. The ADT Manchester CSC offices received the coveted gold standard after meeting demanding measures relevant to the New York street unique environmental set-up and scope.

Since its opening at the end of 2010, ADT’s CSC has gone above and beyond many sustainability-led standards. The office renovation, streamlining of operations and remote alarm diagnostic implementation of its innovative RESOLVE tool has driven:

  • A saving of 750,000 engineers site visits per year, which has significantly reduced carbon emissions and the environmental impact of operations
  • A reduction in energy costs by 70% in the first year
  • An “Excellent” BREEAM rating (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method)
  • 91% of waste recycled or diverted from landfill
  • The ethical disposal of existing furniture in the previous building with 93.9% diverted from landfill

Dominic White, head of the Manchester CSC said “It is great to see our green investments in the CSC continue to deliver such high returns for the business. We feel privileged that we are leading the way in sustainability initiatives across the northern region and will maintain our commitment to the environment through our management of current procedures and scoping out further projects.”
