35 CFS volunteers on five trucks supported by MFS crews and SAPOL personnel are responding to a truck fire on the eastbound side of the Sturt Highway. They were called to the incident at 6:41 am this morning. Quick thinking by the driver of the truck, which was towing two refrigerated trailers, saved the prime mover by unhooking the trailers. However, both the refrigerated trailers transporting frozen produce were damaged by fire.

It’s expected CFS crews will be on the scene for some time, extinguishing hot spots, blacking out, and cleaning up the spilled produce. No one has been injured and traffic restrictions are in place. The damage bill is estimated to be around $300,000.
