Walk Through the Course of the 3M Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge

3M Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge aims to fuse firefighters’ competitive nature with the need for a standard measurement of firefighter fitness for duty.

The 3M Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge encourages firefighter fitness and demonstrates the profession’s rigors to the public. Wearing ‘full bunker gear’ and the Scott 5.5 Air-Pak SCBA, pairs of competitors race head-to-head as they simulate the physical demands of real-life firefighting, performing a series of five tasks that include climbing a five-story tower, hoisting, chopping, dragging hoses and rescuing a life-sized, 175 lb. ‘victim’, while racing against themselves, their opponent and the clock. The event attracts hundreds of American and Canadian municipal fire departments, and takes place at more than 25 locations, as well as New Zealand, Germany, Argentina, Chile, and South Africa.
