UL's Tactical Consideration For Near Entry Point Fire: A Transitional Attack

UL FSRI's Advisory Board Member, Cobb County Fire Department Captain Sean Gray discusses a fire attack study tactical consideration, transitional attack with fire showing near the entry point. One of the first decisions when arriving on the fireground is where to stretch the initial hose line. When there is fire venting from the front side, near the entry door, with no other openings on the structure, you can determine the location of the fire. By the lack of vents open in the structure, and the location of the neutral plane, it may be determined that the seat of the fire is in that compartment. In this scenario, a transitional attack may be the most effective way to knock-back, confine, and suppress the fire.
