FLIR Cameras For Early Fire Detection In Old Town Stockholm

The Greater Stockholm Fire Brigade recently tested FLIR cameras for early fire prevention. The old town in Stockholm is full of historic old houses and narrow streets. A fire in this part of the city would be devastating both for the residents and historical preservation.

The Greater Stockholm Fire Brigade installed a FLIR early fire detection system, FLIR ThermoVision EFD, in one of the tallest church towers located in the old town in Stockholm. The FLIR ThermoVision EFD can detect minor temperature changes and can also be monitored remotely. The system was put to the test using a small controlled fire at a distance. In the future, the old town in Stockholm could be safe guarded by the FLIR ThermoVision EFD.
