Event Overview:

Share And Learn Experiences Of Border Security Professionals At Border Security Europe 2012

SMi proudly presents its 5th annual Border Security event. This year's event will be hosted in Sofia, Bulgaria for a second year following on from the great success of its debut there last year. The event will be held on Wednesday 29th February & Thursday 1st March 2012. It will provide a timely appraisal of Border Security concerns in Eastern Europe and around the world and allow delegates to network with key industry players.

This must-attend event will give attendees a chance to discuss and debate topics including the Bulgarian model of border security, intelligence-led border control and management, emerging issues and new challenges in territorial and border protection, and Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) for Border Security System (BSS).

This event forms a key part of Smi group's growing security portfolio and will offer a global and regional overview of all hot topics surrounding the maintenance of Border Security. Border Security is a continually evolving challenge and although each border has its own unique history and issues associated with it, there is an opportunity to share and learn from the experiences of Border Security professionals from around the world. Border flashpoints and hotspots can be created by political & economic tensions and protecting them is a fundamental element of maintaining national security.

This year's event returns to Bulgaria and provides a timely appraisal of Border Security concerns in Eastern Europe and around the world. As a relatively new member of the European Union, Bulgaria faces geopolitical challenges unlike many of its co-members. Along with Romania, it is also doing everything it can to be accepted into the Schengen Area. This necessitates effective border policing and this position as a border security hot spot makes it an ideal and intriguing venue.
