The Prince George's County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association represents 38 volunteer fire and rescue corporations in Prince George's County, Maryland, staffing 46 stations providing dedicated and continuous fire, rescue and EMS service to more than 700,000 citizens bordering the nation's capitol.

The Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department (Fire/EMS) Department strives to improve the quality of life in Prince George’s County by promoting safety, and providing the highest quality of fire prevention, fire protection, emergency medical services, and community outreach programs.

The Riverdale Heights Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad consists of more than 60 dedicated members who serve Riverdale, Maryland. They provide consultancy services with regards to cooking fire safety, fire extinguisher safety, home fire escape planning, homefire sprinklers, smoke alarm safety and much more.

From a modest beginning of fifty-one men and one pumper, RVFD has grown to four stations, 240 members, and a frontline fleet of 5 Engines, 3 Ladder Trucks, 1 Heavy Rescue Squad, 3 ALS Medic Units, an ALS chase car, 4 BLS Ambulances, 2 Brush Trucks, 10 support vehicles, a mobile canteen, a breathing air support unit, a special unit, and much more.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is an agency of the Maryland Department of State Police.
