The fire department was founded in 1903 and is currently composed of 35 volunteer members. The department is a member of the State Firefighters & Fire Marshals Association of Texas. To maintain membership within the department, each member must maintain a certain percentage of calls, drills, and meeting attendance each year to stay in the department. The department is also a member of the Panhandle Firefighters & Fire Marshals Association.
