A team of 80 ARA Electrical personnel, including Project Management and Supervision, delivered the High Voltage and Low Voltage Installation and Commissioning scope for Sedgman and Heron Resources.

ARA Electrical recently delivered the complete electrical installation package for a new processing plant as part of a major reopening of the Woodlawn Copper-Zinc mine in the Goulburn basin.

HV and LV Systems

Woodlawn was acquired by Heron Resources in 2014 with plans to construct a new processing plant

From August 2018, in the middle of extreme weather conditions, the ARA team commenced the Electrical Installation for the new site.

With ARA technicians working a DIDO 12:2 Roster, the team installed 150km of HV and LV Cabling, 8 HV/LV transformers, Overhead 11kV Line, Complete Underground Earthing System, as well as Testing and Commissioning of both HV and LV Systems for the project.

The Woodlawn site is located near the town of Tarago, 48km south of Goulburn, NSW. It was previously mined from 1978-1998. Following a long period of disuse, Woodlawn was acquired by Heron Resources in 2014 with plans to construct a new processing plant adjacent to the old site.

Long-term relationship

Following the positive feedback from the principal contractor, ARA Electrical hopes to establish a long-term relationship with Sedgman, a global pioneer in mineral processing.

During their stay on-site at Woodlawn, the ARA Electrical team also raised awareness for men’s health throughout November and raised a total of USD 16,000 for the Movember campaign.
