Vimpex funded an overseas extrication team's entry to the UKRO Competition in Liverpool

Vimpex have recently supported the humanitarian charity, Operation Florian by funding an overseas extrication team’s entry to the UKRO Competition held in Liverpool earlier this year.

Operation Florian is an international humanitarian charity providing fire engines, equipment and training to the world's poorest regions whose populations lose millions of lives every year to fires and disasters.

A current area of focus for the charity is Macedonia, a country which suffers a high per-capita accident rate on their roads with, until recently, no specialist provision of RTA training or equipment.

Thanks to Vimpex’s generosity, the Macedonian extrication team enjoyed two full days of training with Greater Manchester FRS followed by a day’s competition during which the rookies made an excellent show of their newly found skills.

Using exclusively Vimpex supplied equipment, including TNT Hydraulics, RHYNO Windscreen Cutters and sporting their specially commissioned Pacific Rescue Helmets, the team managed a very respectable 25th of 45 teams.

Vimpex hope to follow up on the team’s success by accompanying members of Operation Florian to Macedonia later this year with a view of helping to organise a domestic extrication challenge there. It is hoped that this model can be repeated in other countries, thus providing developing nations with vital training and command skills as well as giving users’ access to the most up-to-date products.

Another team to benefit from Vimpex sponsorship at the UKRO was the all-female team from Cumbria. The women all enjoyed wearing their brand new Dominator R6 rescue helmets from Pacific Helmets.
