The Pierce HazMat unit from Oshkosh  

The September 14-16 conference and exhibition provides real-time, threat-based training for law enforcement, fire service, EMS/Medical, Emergency Nursing, Homeland Security and other disaster response professionals.

Oshkosh Corporation , is featuring vehicles from three of its brands Pierce Manufacturing, Oshkosh Defense and Medtec Ambulance at the first ever TAK-Response Conference and Exhibition that opens today in San Jose, Calif. The September 14-16 conference and exhibition provides real-time, threat-based training for law enforcement, fire service, EMS/Medical, Emergency Nursing, Homeland Security and other disaster response professionals.

On display at the conference are the following vehicles and noteworthy technologies:

Oshkosh Tactical Protector Vehicle (TPV)

The Oshkosh TPV is an innovative, high-mobility tactical vehicle engineered to meet the challenges faced by tactical officers responding to dangerous situations. The TPV’s unmatched performance is made possible through its high mobility chassis, military-grade armored protection system, tactical equipment and compact size. The vehicle is based on a Ford F-550 commercial chassis shortened to a highly maneuverable 116-inch wheelbase. The TPV is engineered with an upgraded suspension, four-wheel drive, a 325-hp engine and can reach a top speed of 75 mph.

Pierce HazMat Vehicle

 The Pierce HazMat vehicle (on display courtesy of the Mountain View, Calif. Fire Department) is built on a Quantum custom chassis with a non walk-in heavy-duty rescue body.  The vehicle features a 490 hp engine, seating for five firefighters, and a raised roof cab.  The unit is designed to respond to a wide range of hazardous material emergencies, and carries a breathing air system, storage for 10 SCBA bottles, a variety of hydraulic tools and an oil dry absorbent delivery system.  The versatile vehicle also features a safety vision camera, GPS system, telescoping LED light towers, two-way radios and a command desk in the crew cab.

Medtec RediMedic Ambulance

The Medtec RediMedic line of full featured and value positioned ambulances is easy-to-operate, easy-to-service and available with a full range of innovative features in popular configurations and chassis choices. The RediMedic ambulance is built for simplified maintenance and service, with easy access to electrical, HVAC assemblies, oxygen components and other systems, and is being introduced to the market with a robust inventory of stock vehicles, and a shorter than traditional lead time for fleet purchases.  The ambulance is available on Ford, GMC or Dodge platforms with a choice of either gas or diesel engines.
