Scania will deliver 109 fire truck chassis to the Malaysian Fire & Rescue Department

Leading vehicle manufacturer to deliver large Malaysian contract

Scania reinforced its status as the preferred supplier of chassis for for fire trucks with the recent order of 109 units Scania chassis to the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (known as Bomba in Malaysia).

"The new order is testament to the outstanding quality of the trucks and the service support given by Scania Malaysia to Bomba," said Mr Idros Puteh, General Manager for Scania (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, responsible for the Malaysian market.

The units, all 9-litre P-series truck with the Scania CrewCab, are scheduled to begin delivery to Bomba in the first quarter, with all 109 units to be delivered during 2009.

Bomba's confidence in Scania can be traced back to the 1990s. With this latest order, a total of 214 Scanias will be in service in the Bomba fleet by the end of 2009.

Body and fire-fighting equipment are furnished by local bodybuilders AVP Engineering Sdn. Bhd. (M) and Pesaka Astana Sdn. Bhd. (M) in collaboration with Ziggler and Plastisol.
