MCS Fire & Security's SAFETY Act
protection extends to customers for
the security system installation and
integration services

U.S Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have awarded SAFETY Act Certification and Designation to MCS Fire and Security, a service and solutions provider in the commercial security and fire detection industry.

MCS Fire & Security, a service and solutions provider in the commercial security and fire detection industry, announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security ("DHS") awarded it SAFETY Act (Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies) Certification and Designation coverage for its Electronic Security Installation and Integration Services. These services provide procurement, installation, integration and maintenance of perimeter security and intrusion detection systems, access control systems, video surveillance systems, and control systems for anti-vehicular barrier systems for large private and public customers including those involved in petrochemicals, nuclear facilities, energy, transportation, healthcare, stadiums, etc.

The SAFETY Act is an important federal law that encourages the creation and sale of anti-terror products and services to help protect the nation's citizens. It was enacted by Congress following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, as part of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, Public Law 107-296. Congress has stated that the purpose of the SAFETY Act is to "ensure that the threat of liability does not deter potential manufacturers or sellers of anti-terrorism technologies from developing and commercializing technologies that could save lives."

SAFETY Act is to encourage the development and deployment of new and innovative anti-terrorism products and services

MCS Fire & Security's SAFETY Act protection extends to customers for the security system installation and integration services that we provide under our SAFETY Act designation and certification. The goal of the SAFETY Act is to encourage the development and deployment of new and innovative anti-terrorism products and services by providing liability protections. The SAFETY Act creates a system of risk and litigation management designed to ensure that the threat of liability in the event of an Act of Terrorism does not deter potential manufacturers or sellers of anti-terrorism technologies from developing, commercializing, and deploying technologies that could save lives. The SAFETY Act provides important legal liability protections for providers of anti-terrorism technologies.

To achieve SAFETY Act certification, MCS Fire & Security had to demonstrate that its services can in some way deter, defend against, identify, respond to, or mitigate an act of terrorism. MCS Fire & Security passed a rigorous review by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to earn certification for our security system installation and integration services under the SAFETY Act.

Wally Wallace, Executive Vice President of Sales said: "MCS Fire & Security can now deliver another important added value to our customers – an added layer of liability protection to help customers in the event of an act of terrorism. In offering this benefit to MCS' customers, we are taking advantage of a DHS program specifically designed to protect our country, our citizens and our critical assets with advanced anti-terrorism technologies."
